Sketch Concepts for 'Growth' Chesterfield

Melanie is a civic artist and designer with 22 years of experience producing major artwork for the public realm. 

 

After graduating with a degree in Design, Melanie went on to work for public sculptor Stephen Broadbent as a designer/maker, then later for a number of large environmental practices including Scott Wilson and URS as their in-house artist/creative designer.

 

She is now lead designer and project manager of her own company Melanie Jackson Designs. Melanie is experienced at working collaboratively with architects, landscape architects, and fabricators throughout the UK and in Ireland and has successfully completed many high profile projects for local authorities and private clients alike. As an artist/artwork consultant and designer she is skilled at delivering quality, site specific, bespoke pieces that help create a sense of place wherever she works.

 

Projects have included sculpture, welcoming markers/gateways, bespoke street furniture, signage and interpretation, plaques and awards, water features and integrated art with landscape. Melanie’s artistic capabilities are matched by her understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes with works being produced in a wide variety of materials including; glass, fabricated steel, bronze, aluminium, stone, concrete, wood and ceramics.
